In addition, I have to think that there is not as much criticism of the black coats being an off color because the exclusion of them is such a recent change.
Maybe someone feels their golden yorkie's rich gold color will enhance the tan/gold in their potential show dogs. Maybe someone with a chocolate feels that their dog has the most beautiful silk coat that will improve the texture of their lines? Unless this breeder breeds these "off colored" dogs to another yorkie who carries the same off colored gene, their pups will be traditional colored with hopefully, richer golden tan markings (golden breeding to traditional breeding) and improved silken coats (chocolate breeding to traditional breeding). There is no difference between breeding back coated yorkies to blue coated yorkies, or breeding another "off colored" yorkie to a traditional colored yorkie. You are still breeding an off color to the standard blue colored yorkie.
