I give mine major daily doses of love, hugs and kisses. I also make sure they are around other dogs as much as possible and also have play-dates twice a month with my three plus 8 to 11 other small dogs. I do put sweaters and jackets on them when it's cold and use a stroller so they either won't burn their pads when we go to different little towns for shopping and traveling, or to get inside stores that otherwise wouldn't allow. You can have well mannered, well adjusted dogs and still do these things. It's a good balance.
