Fostering is so tough BUT so rewarding. And, remember, you can always apply for permanent ownership of the animal that you feel you cannot give up.
I have fostered dogs, cats and humans. My human was a 6 week-old little boy who had several deformities. The way I did it was this..I knew I would have to give him up so there was the tiniest bit of my heart that I kept aside so that when he did leave me(at age 9 months) all my sadness and sorrow was stored in that wee place. It is very difficult to love them and let them go, but remember, they are only on loan to us...But, we do make the difference in their lives and that is what has to sustain us. |
