I just feel this poor breeder has been very unappreciated.
It was not due to her not being able to keep her end of the agreement.
It was you that could not keep your side of the agreement.
You asked her for a partial refund and she offered that but after the puppy was sold.
Seems to me after you placing that pup on hold for you so he/she was no longer available for sale that you should sit back and wait for that pup to be sold. And I find the paypal thing a very tacky and rude way to deal with this.
