I played with one a long time ago when I was a kid. My grandmother had one that had belonged to my mom and aunt when they were kids. She said they just always thought it was like a game...see if you can catch the other person cheating...said it was marketed and sold as games back then. We tried to 'trick' each other, but never acted as if we were 'channeling spirits' or trying to 'contact the dead' or anything like that. She'd probably still got in in her storage building somewhere amongst all the other stuff from over the years...
Personally, I don't see what the big deal is. I guess an object, ANY object, is and represents what you choose to make it. I could take a stapler or something and use it in some sort of ritual or channeling and act as if was some dark object and it would mean the same thing as some board with letters and figures on it. I think things are only 'evil' if you choose to let them be. |
