Both of mine will go in the pool if I'm in there. Sometime they will just get on the raft and float around. They swim very well but the pool has a ladder not steps so someone has to keep an eye on them. By the way the pool is not in my yard, it's at my daughter's-they have a baby pool at my house and run in and out of it all the time. Bubba likes to lay in it with his hair floating around him
