The thing that I learned was to freeze the "Weekender" cold packs- get several- and put one under towels in a crate. If the power goes out these are great to help keep the pups cool. You can stock up on them at Walmart at a decent price.
Another thing that I keep in our kit is "Calm-eze", it's a flower essence, also "Rescue Remedy" is another good one to have around for stress.
I picked up "Pawprints of Katrina" the other day, learned quite a bit from it too
