I think of the xpen as a little room where everything is safe. They have food and water and beds or crate and pee pads, but nothing that they can use to hurt them selves like wires and cords. Some people use a bathroom as an x pen, but dogs don't like the closed doors, and this works better with some sort of gate instead of a closed door. With an xpen the dog can be kept near the family when they are home, but still in a safe place when they can't be supervised. Best of luck to you and Charlie!
