! I was surprised too when I moved here. I guess it's partly bc we have so many illegal immigrants (that's what the crime stats tell us) - and sometimes crimes are committed by people who then flee to Mexico. I never had an alarm before I moved here. But it seems like here, you can't be without one - which is odd for me...
