I think if I were in your position, I'd get the shot. As I said, I don't get it, but I don't have any farm animals either. Lepto can be carried even if the animals don't have symptoms. I'd say get the shot, and only that shot, and make sure you can be around for at least 24 hours afterward. Most adverse reactions will show up more quickly than that. What you don't want to do is get multiple shots like Lepto plus Distemper/Rabies/anything. Chances are that everything will be fine, but I'm still not sure how much protection you're getting since there are so many strains of Lepto, but I'm not a vet.
