I see where your vet is coming from to some extent, because it's transferred through fluids, which can mean infected water, soil, etc. But as far as having cattle, please don't let your baby actually mingle with the cattle regardless what you do about the vaccination. Yorkies are very bold little animals that don't realize how small and fragile they are, and they want to play with everything. Your cattle could hurt your baby without even meaning to do it just by giving it a kick or inadvertently stepping on it.
Our cattle are all vaxed against Lepto as soon as they can be so they should not be carriers of the bacteria. Bella would never be next to the cattle at all. We have calves that we are bottle feeding that are closer to the house than and graze in the same land that Bella would play on if she is ever outside to play. Our vet says he uses a new vax that is purified and has much fewer reactions...I don't know it all makes me nervous!
