It isn't what some people want to hear, but they really do need a playmate. I posted something about this in another thread just earlier. One of their own kind would probably make things a bit easier on you. That doesn't mean it has to be a Yorkie, just another dog of comparable size.

I have four Yorkies, and I never tire of watching them run and jump on one another and play tug of war with their toys. Granted, they also love their people, and my house sounds like a dog kennel when I come in the door after I've been gone for an hour, because they don't like their people being out of sight for too long. They love me and my husband, who dotes on them as much as I do, but having a playmate can help to ease the separation anxiety.
