I don't do them The usefulness is limited because there are so many strains of Lepto, and it's treatable if the dog gets it. However, I'm not sure about the cattle thing. I'd hope none of the cattle are infected because Lepto is communicable even to humans.
I see where your vet is coming from to some extent, because it's transferred through fluids, which can mean infected water, soil, etc. But as far as having cattle, please don't let your baby actually mingle with the cattle regardless what you do about the vaccination. Yorkies are very bold little animals that don't realize how small and fragile they are, and they want to play with everything. Your cattle could hurt your baby without even meaning to do it just by giving it a kick or inadvertently stepping on it. |
