Omg Spay day was a no-go

Agh! Some you might remember that Lily's spay was scheduled for yesterday. Well, the vet called at about 12 and said they had just checked her blood work and her white blood cell count was a little bit low. She said she thinks it was because of the forever-long kennel cough we had... something about how her body had been depleted of white blood cells, and she didn't want to chance the surgery, Lily get an infection, and her body not be able to fight it off. SO- she sent us home with antibiotics and vitamins to take for two weeks, and the spay is rescheduled for the 27th.

Anybody else have any experience with something like this? Or do you know of any other reason her white blood count could have been off? I know that a high count means there's some kind of infection, but this was the first I'd heard of a low white blood cell count.
