It's only when breeders use the term, it bothers me, they should know better, and are just trying to dupe unsuspecting buyers into buying a dog that may or may not be small. One member said that she bought a "certified teacup" and it was 8 pounds at 4 months, but she was positive it was a "teacup." No breeders are selling dogs advertised as "teapots" although that's what many "teacups" turn out to be. We try to warn people to not buy from breeders using this term because the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America forbids it's members from using the term. No ethical breeder will use the term. It's a very easy way to spot a poor breeder.
