Duke does it too. At my parents, he climbs onto the kitchen table to see out the window and he gets on the coffee table in the living room because my dad always seems to leave food there from when he eats.
At our old place he would sit on the back of the couch so he could see out the window.
My parents don't eat on the kitchen table so I never worried about it, he uses the chairs to get on top of it. To get yours to stop getting on the table you could try pulling the chairs away from it. The bathroom counter I can't explain haha
