We just back from the vet. She said the dreaded words I haven't even wanted to pronounce and wants to run some tests to rule out liver shunt. They pulled blood today to do a full blood panel. If nothing shows up in his blood, she wants to go ahead and do the bile acid test.
I made it to the car before I burst into tears. With the move and everything that is going on, this is the LAST thing either Oscar or I needed. Please hope and pray that it was just blood sugar. He has absolutely no symptoms of liver shunt whatsoever, except for the listlessness thing today. He just ate and is more insanely hyper than ever. His labs will be back tomorow ... Well i am happy to hear your vet recommended a bile acid

Sounds pretty on the ball! I was the EXACT same way....SO SCARED thats why having this test will rule out all possibilites of a shunt. If he is acting fine after he eats then odds are in your favor. Thats when most shunts become symptomatic. Hypo and shunt can act a lot alike but the major difference is how they act after they eat. If he is happy playing after eating then sounds like a positive thing

I will pray your results come back good and please stay positive, your doing the best thing for him. Its hard not to assume the worst, I know I did and when i got those bile acid results....WOW he was perfect! just a lil low blood sugar....ALL my questions were answered. Good luck and keep us posted!
