First of all, I am sorry about your daughter. I lost a son when I was 6 months pregnant too. He lived 12 hours. My prayers are going up for you. A dog won't take all the pain away, but they can give you unconditional love.

I just had my Sami spay yesterday. She will be 1yo on Sept 18th. The vet wanted me to have her spayed before her first heat but I kept putting it off. I think the vet would like for your dog to be done before her heat because it reduces the risk of mammory cancer.

My Sami is doing fine right now, just sleeping alot. I would suggest reading the statistics of spaying and asking your vet the statistics he has on spaying, anesthesia, etc.
