My dog is 7 months old and her ears were up and down until they stood up and stayed up at six months. I definitely think that trimming her ears helped the process a lot...so I'm definitely an advocate for trimming. Personally, I trimmed the whole back of her ear very short. Takes all the weight off so in y opinion that's the best way.
