Contacting our vets?? I am on an email list about clicker training. This was on one today.
I apologize for putting this on these lists, but it is the only way that I
know of to quicky spread the word. I just got off the phone with Allysia
(owner at Lucky Stars Kennel where I work in MD) and she was deployed from Louisiana State University to Lamar-Dixon Expo Center
_www.lamardixonexpocenter.com_-- she said EVERY area of that huge complex there is overflowing with all sorts of animals and hardly any volunteers. They are in very very desperate need of volunteers -- also, veterinary disinfectant, iv fluids, sanitation supplies, etc ... animals are coming in and they are worse and worse from being out there so long, much sicker.
They only apparently have a handful of volunteers at Lamar Dixon, and they
have horses, goats, sheep, all kinds of animals, 1000 + dogs and cats --
limited veterinarians, medication -- She wants to know if the word can be sent out any way possible - WITHOUT NEGATIVITY towards what is being done, because a lot IS being done -- but its still not enough (understandably). Please contact your vets and see if they can help with time/supplies. If you are local - , please find time to go. If you know someone who lives closer, please urge them to help.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for anything you can do to help get this word out, we are expecting 20 some dogs to come in this weekend from Katrina.
