Crating might do the trick with both problems. Crate Ace until it is time for him to go. Then take him outside, walk him, etc. Then back in the crate until next time. It sounds cruel, but with more than one dog in a home, it is almost the only way to do it. Meanwhile, since Ace is crated, your older dog can grow gradually accustomed to another dog in the household without feeling threatened and Ace is also safe in his crate. As Paris Hilton says, "Problem solved"!
