I always learned that a yawn in a dog is a sign of stress, not that they are sleepy.....they do yawn but only upon awakening.....they don't yawn like humans..
RE: Empathy, I agree. I would "fake" cry some times to just check if they cared and every time I do it they would run up to me and kiss me on my lips or eyes. Then 2 seconds later go back to whatever game they were playing at the moment. So I would do it again and we would do this over and over. Just so I can feel better that they do care. hahahhaha Your dogs can absorb your emotions, they are the ones that knows the real you. In return, that is why we love them so much. They will protect us, love us, and give us the emotional feeling that we at times won't show and that is why we do the same for them.
