That vet sounds really shady
Get a new one asap! I've always been in the room when my baby got his shots. I really like my vet, everybody's friendly and professional. I know I come off as an over protective Yorkie mom, but they're all very understanding and very patient with me. You should never feel uncomfortable with your vet, nor should you have to question their practices, imo.
