Default "Course Hair for a Yorkie"

I took Sasha to the groomers again over the weekend. She got everything done but a puppy cut because I wanted to let her hair grow out a bit. When I mentioned to the groomer (who has worked on her several times before) that I wanted to let it grow she said "well she has course hair for a yorkie." I was a little taken aback by her comment so I didn't really reply to it. But I'm wondering if she meant it's wiry/cottony, because I CAN agree with that descriptive. I know silky is a desired texture but she made me feel like Sasha was "less than" because it's not. Her hair doesn't lay down for very long. It sticks out and she can look very ratty very quickly after some serious play. I've recently switched her to Wellness so I'm hoping that will help to improve her coat but is there anything I can do, or product I can buy to assist in her having a smoother, shinier coat? Here are a couple of recent pics of her.
