Also, it is a good idea to hold them during the tie so that the female doesn't try and pull away and hurt both of them. 
It would be good to read about things like how to deliver pups, how to take care of newborns, what medical care they will need like vaccines (most vets overvaccinate)...   
How much do they weigh?
Were they tested before breeding (bile acid, blood panel, maybe urinalysis, maybe LP and hips)?
