Well, I guess you're right, I have a loud 'clap' that stops Marty from eating horse poop or barking - sometimes. When I want him to learn something new, I give him a treat for good behavior, its sometimes slow, but is the way to go. I have tried to ignore bad behavior and it is difficult - I'm told it works. The only instance where that really works for me is if he is wandering too far off trail - I will walk away from him and he will usually decide to come find me.
