Thanks to all who are thinking about this. I did post in the regional section, and I'm hoping to get some replies there. Taking her to Chattanooga would be somewhat out of the way, as it's only 2 hours from Atlanta to Greenville straight up I-85, and it's way more than that from Chat. to Greenville, not to mention that there's no good road between the 2. But it was a thought, and if someone was going that way, we'd take it.
I'm just thinking that it's gonna be easier to catch a ride if we keep it direct, and on the interstate. If I can find someone to do the 2 hour drive from Atlanta to Greenville, and then someone to take her from Greenville to Charlotte (about 1.5 hr), then I will pick her up in Charlotte and bring her to Greensboro (about 1.5 - 2 hr). If I can't find anyone for the Greenville to Charlotte leg, I'll drive all the way to Greenville myself. I just can't do the whole thing to Atlanta. If I'm REALLY lucky, I'll run across someone who is driving Atlanta to Charlotte for business during the week (or pleasure) and no one will have to make any special trips, the pooch can just hitch a ride. If anyone knows a person who travels that route, we could make it earlier than the weekend. I just figured if we are getting volunteers, people usually have more freedom on the weekend. But I'll come to Charlotte any time to pick her up, if we move it up.
Thanks, everyone, for thinking about this. You'd kinda think, as many rescue organizations as there are, that there would be an organized transport system for them, wouldn't you??? |
