Default wasp sting?

hi!
i just took my puppy on a walk.
he bit into/got stung in his mouth by a wasp.
he didn't cry out. he just started licking his mouth and rubbing his face into the grass. i've been watching him for the last hour. making sure his breathing is OK and that he's not swelling up. i decided to get some children's liquid benedryl, just in case he does start to have a reaction.

would it be best to go ahead and give him something, or do you think that b/c it's been an hour and nothing has happened- that he'll be OK?????
i don't know how long after a sting, he would start to have a reaction.
i hate to give him benedryl when he's acting fine. i've never given him benedryl before, so i would hate for him to have a reaction from that.

help!

thanks!!!
