Oh yes! This has happened to me. This is the reason for shaving butts and if your pup sleeps with you at night, it is wise to build it a stairway to get off the bed like taking a clothes basket filled with pillows and gradually build down ending with something like a pet bed.
When Sonny first slept with us, this would happen. Then he would get to where he would whine when he needed down. If that didn't work for him he would paw us in the face. Then, of course, he would whine to get back up.
