I saw a really good report on Dateline (I think it was Dateline) about Pet Insurance. They said the bottom line was this: if you could afford a worse case scenario (for example, a 5k surgery), then don't get insurance. If a 5k surgery would devastate your family - then get insurance.

When I was doing research - I only found ONE that did cover congenital issues (as long as you GOT the insurance BEFORE the health issue was discovered) and it was PetPlan.
