Default Playing too rough?

I brought my new 3 month old male home on Friday. I also have a 7 month old female. They are both about 2.5 lbs. They seem to really like each other and play alot together, but sometimes one of them really yelps and cries when they are playing. I know that this is somewhat normal when they play with play biting and all, but where do you draw the line? After this happens they immediately run back to each other and want to start playing again. Do I just let them play and let it run it's course or do I stop it occasionally? I am so afraid one of them will get hurt. They do all of that growling and rolling around and biting - does it just sound worse than it is? It seems as though I am constantly picking one of them up, trying to hold them as they squirm to get back down. Help!
