Default Yorkie wanted in Tucson, AZ: Preliminaries

Hi all -

I'm new to the forum. I joined a few days after I started caring for Jack, a sweet boy who ended up in my care through a series of unfortunate events.

I've wanted a Yorkie for several years now. I even rescued a much larger dog in 2006 (35 lb mix, likely American Bull dog and something smaller) from a shelter, thinking it'd be more responsible to rescue a dog in need than to buy a new puppy. And I wouldn't change that decision for the world - I love Baby with everything I have, and she's gotten me through some really tough spots. No other dog could ever replace her. (you can see pics of my sweet girl here.)

BUT, I still have plenty of love and room left over, and I never did stop wanting a Yorkie. And, of course, I recently met Jack. Jack has been in my care for the past month (getting along just fine with Baby, which I was worried about because of the size difference). But Jack's previous owner may be coming to get him back, and there isn't anything I can do.

It's not 100% decided yet. I'm going to try to talk to him when he comes to get him - but he's had Jack for 11 years, and I don't expect that I'll have too much luck. And I've decided that if I can't keep Jack I really do want a Yorkie of my own.

I've also already filled out an application to rescue an adult yorkie if a suitable match for my living situation can be found, and I'd be happy to consider that as well from any responses here.

Sooo... I'm posting this now. Because I'm sure it will take some time to find the right breeder and the right puppy. Might as well start looking now, because I'd say there's a better than 80% chance Jack will be leaving me by the end of August.

I'm not sure what a breeder would want to know, so here are some things I can think of off the top of my head:

- I am a 30 year old professional with a full time job, and steady in come.
- I can provide a loving, stable, responsible home. Baby is my proof. She's very well taken care of, and a very happy girl.
- My Yorkie will need to get along well with Baby, and with children. Besides my niece (4) and nephew (1), there are also my significant other's children (6 and 9), and my dogs will be exposed to all of them regularly.
- Work keeps me away from home about 10 hours a day (9 hours + commute). I know Yorkies need to have constant companionship, and that's where I'm hoping Baby will be suitable. Jack seems to be doing perfectly fine staying home with Baby, and Baby is a much happier girl having a companion around too.
- Baby is 2 years old. I've had her since she was 4 months. She has NEVER shown any dog or human aggression. She's a big love bug. You can ask Jack.
- I can provide personal references, as well as references from people who can attest to how well I care for my dog (vet's, day-care and boarding providers, etc.).

Please PM me if you think you can help in the event that Jack is taken away from me!

Best to you all! And thanks in advance for your help!
