Default Newby in North Texas!

I am brand new to the YorkieTalk.com forum, but not new to Yorkie ownership. I live in Texas and got my first Yorkie in 1971. "Grasshopper" lived to be 15 years old. Next, "Sugar" came into my life. She was 5 years old when I got her, and she lived to be 19 years old! My heart was broken when she went to Doggy heaven, as you might expect. She and I had been through so very much together! My husband passed away only 2 months before Sugar died. I have not owned a Yorkie since 2001, and I'm not sure exactly why I waited until last Saturday to get another one. I think the thought of attempting to replace my dear Sugar seemed disloyal somehow! My husband and I (we've been married for 5 years) are both dog and cat people. We have a Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Schnauzer, and two cats. They are all are rescue animals, and we dearly love them all. When we saw the little 9 week bundle of fur that was destined to join our family, our hearts melted. We tried to show restraint, however. A household with 4 dogs and 2 cats wouldn't be practical.....right? We actually decided to not get him, but we had only driven 1/2 mile down the road when we changed our minds and went back and got him. "Gizmo" has been with us less than a week, and has happily blended right in! Our Chihuahua and Shih Tzu are both older dogs, so Gizmo's energy is a little too much for them. The Schnauzer is only 2 years old, so he and Gizmo are now best buddies. Sorry to go on for so long, but I know that Yorkie people understand the special bond! I am looking forward to all the group has to offer. As soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I'll get some in an album!
