OMG, this is why my vet advised me not to put the chip tag on the dog. If you do, whoever finds your dog now has your dogs microchip number and can have the ownership changed. Without the tag, they would have to have the dog scanned by a vet or shelter. Maybe it's time for these microchip companies to come up with better security measures to make this difficult to do unless you are truly the dogs owner.
