I don't see any reason why in this situation there is anything wrong with 8 weeks. I would rather you take the puppy at 8 weeks than have a heart attack patient and his elderly mother-in-law watching the pup (no offense to them, I'm just sure its too much to handle). I know 8 weeks is earlier than the preferred, but sometimes life just happens and we have to deal with it.
