Try Cowboy magic and a slicker brush. I would'nt leave the collar on him all of the time..or a harness or shirt. This is why he is matting all the time. Lillie has a long soft coat and will matt around her shoulder area just going for a walk. I don't leave their harnesses on them unless we are going for a walk or tied up outside.
