I'm kidding...have done like that myself, but now you know about hookworms.
I have no idea about ticks and tapeworms. There is more than just 1 type. One is found from fleas and another found in rabbits. Dogs get those two...there's another that cats get from mice. They would eat the bodies of the rabbit or mice to catch tapeworms though.
I do know he doesn't have to eat a LOT of fleas....one infected flea is enough.
