I say, go for it. It may be hard to housetrain a 1 year old. You'll really have to work with her but I'm sure that she'll get it in no time. At 1 year for Gracie and 1 1/2 years for Chester, they still were not "good" housetrained. I got one of those doggie doors when I went to Vegas and we average an accident about twice a month...from Rebel.
