Oh yes! No matter which you choose, NOTHING is as nasty as carpeting. When we ripped out our carpets I was beside myself. I cleaned some carpet at least every week and still it was nasty. The carpet top was clean but the sub floor was nasty as heck! I hand washed it for days with strong vinegar water and let it air dry good for a few days before we did the flooring. There were spot that were "Favored pee areas" that ended up getting heavily Nature Miracled for days, baking soda'd and then covered with heavy flooring plastic just incase the smell would every decide to leak thru. Incase you get any wild ideas of replcing subflooring due to just pee issues....DON'T! We had to do it because we had water damage in our entry area and it was a horrendous project. It rarely fits back together right and floor leveler is time consuming and messey with animals running around.

Most importantly: Be sure your sub floor is 100% dry before you lay new flooring after any clean up jobs.

Cat urine will smell until its is covered btw. It's the most foul urine ever!
