Mom has thick hair and floppy ears. Dad has silky hair and floppy ears. Oh and one more thing... is there a way to know about what weight they will be when they are older her is their weight as of TODAY being one week.

1st Girl: 12 3/4 OZ.
2nd Girl: 12 1/8 OZ.
3rd Boy: 11 1/4 OZ.
4th Boy: 9 3/8 OZ.

I'm no expert as Tami (Ladyhawk) is on answers...I will tell you from experience. Your female is about the same weight as my Tiffanie was before any of her whelpings...And your male is a little under the weight my Teddy is before any of his breedings...I am breeding toward the AKC Standards...And with that being said we choose to have Tiffanie Spaded due to throwing out larger puppies in 2 litters.

I know here in Indiana when anyone calls me for a puppy, they ask how big the parents are...I would tell them and they would hang up the phone on me...So I knew in my heart that I had to have Tiffanie spaded for her weight and her throwing larger puppies.

As far as ears, I do feel the go up and down with teething, but Tami (Ladyhawk) is the expert on this and I would follow her advice in a heartbeat...

I had one (Dillin) and his ears went up and down even though I kept them shaved 1/3 of the way down on his ear tips, finally at 6 months of age they stood up and stayed up.

I as a breeder would not breed a male and female if they had that recessive gene in either one...I would not want to take the chance for any puppies to pass this on to their litters.

As far as weights that's a hard guess to me...Some in my litter I thought would be larger was smaller at adult weight and some that I thought we're going to be smaller ended up on the larger side at adult weight...I'm still learning about all this too. So these are good questions you've asked.

I would take these answers given to you to heart and if your wanting to be a serious breeder and breed toward the AKC Standards and breed to save and preserve our beloved Yorkshire Terrier breed then I would do as I did...Start over...

I personally would start 100% over...With a new female and male...I know this may sound harsh but to me this is what I would do as a serious Breeder of our Breed ...I wouldn't risk the chance passing that gene on to no future litters.

If I was you I would have a STRICT SPAY/NEUTER contract for all my puppies that will be place in other homes for if you allow others to adopt your puppies without being Spayed or Neutered then they will breed and allow this trait to be carried on.

I don't know if this can be bred out of your line or not by finding another male or female....(I'll let the experienced breeders answer this) How long in years would it take you to breed this trait out of your line??? I feel you would do better by starting over...You would save time and money to me in the long run. That is if your wanting to breed toward the AKC Standards...

You should also look at their pedigrees, research them.

Also if you start over, I would have my male and female spaded and neutered before going any farther in your breeding. Please keep in mind this is all my OPO, what I would do personally and what I would do as a breeder of Yorkshire Terriers. Lee
