Something sounds fishy, why would your sister leave the feeding of the dog up to her husband? She has no idea if the dog has eaten while in her care? I'm wondering when she asked her husband the question of, "Have you given him any food", she might have been referring to food, besides dog food. So many members have said that family members have given high fat table scraps to their dogs, and vomiting resulted. He may have answered "no" because he felt guilty. Perhaps approaching the questioning from a different way might get you a truer answer. For example, ask if there was anyway Mascot could have "snuck" some human food? Hope Mascot recovers soon, I would be looking for another pet sitter, though, if I were you.
