I use the gel. I put it on a toothbrush and brush the teeth. But you can jsut put it on with your finger. But I do recommend brushing their teeth some. You are not supposed to let them eat or drink water for 30 minutes after you put it on. I really like it. It takes most of the tartar off my dogs' teeth.
