I think it is the right thing to do if you are not planning to breed him. I saw this on a site the other day:neutered males have far fewer prostate problems (including cysts, abscesses, and prostate cancer) than do unaltered males, and they can’t develop testicular cancer. They are less likely to roam, fight, demonstrate aggressiveness, or display hyperactive behavior.

Not sure what others think but it is jmho.
