when Avery was a baby and would stay in her xpen, when we weren't home.. she had one of her beds in there! i think its just up to you.. if you don't have a crate(and aren't planning on using one) i would buy the cute little house or even a bed. but i can tell you Avie loves her little enclosed beds.. she would LOVE one of those houses!
it's up to you.. and is really just a preference. so my input would be the house/bed.
