Most tricks, I try to keep my hands off him because they resist doing it if they think they're being forced, but that one I cheated a little bit.
I taught roll over by having him go into a down and then following a treat to the side. Once he had that down, I said 'bang,' gave him the roll over hand signal, then stopped him when he was on his back just for a second.
I'm not sure that's the best way, but he picked it up pretty fast.
