Franklin is making me miserable! Since we've moved, Franklin has turned into a nightmare! For the first week he was a perfect angel. Stopped barking, stopped being mischievous.. he would play with Maggie for a while but then would sleep most of the day. I thought he was finally calming down from his puppy stages. Everyone told me that he would calm down after about ten months. Well he is ten months today!
We've recently had to switch him to a wire crate instead of his playpen due to lack of space. He normally does great with it - during the day when we leave and at night when it's bedtime he's a perfect angel. At first he would sleep until we woke up and let him out. Now he's waking us up earlier and earlier. First it was 10:30, then 9:30, and then 8:30! At first we thought that he would wake up whenever our alarm would go off but now he's waking us up way before our alarm is supposed to go off. He NEVER did this when he was in his expen.
Sometimes in the mornings I'll be the first one up so I wake up, take them out, feed them breakfast, and put them back up when I leave for class or work. This usually works out fine. Well this morning he woke us up at 8:30 and it was our day off so we took them out, fed them breakfast, and put them back up (like I normally do). No luck. He started barking and barking and barking. I would just let him bark it out but I live in at apartment with other roommates so it's not an option. Then he spent all day barking at us and Maggie. I took him on THREE walks, and also took him out to pee for 10 minutes every two hours. I tried so hard to tire him out but no luck. We played fetch for two hours. He just had all of this pent up energy and would NOT stop barking.
I'm at my wits end and I'm about to rip my hair out. I don't know what to do anymore because I don't really know how to correct his behavior. Any help?
PS. Of course this whole time Maggie is being a perfect angel which makes me want to just give Franklin away lol. Just kidding but you all know what it's like. |
