I never had the problem where they would tear them apart but we just started using washable pee pads and at first I didn't like the idea of having to wash them...I must say the washable pads are the best and I wouldn't go back to disposable pads. To be honest with you, I personally think you get more of the urine smell on disposable pads than the washable ones, JMO. I leave one out all day and I do not smell the urine and I have three furbabies that use the same pad. I wash them every night with hot water and tide, plus a little softner and they do not smell like urine at all.
