I have had a big med to long hair black and white cat for a little over two years. Her coat is beautiful and thick, which means she leaves alot of hair in the house. I brush her regularly (she appreciates the help I think) and tons of hair comes out. I always brush her outside on a breezy day so her hair flies away. Even the clumps from the brush which I have to clean three to four times will blow a ways away. We noticed other animals carrying it away to line their nests (we guess). Gotta keep warm in Minnesota winters ya know.

Our last dog didn't pay any attention to the hair on the ground. I noticed our new Yorkie (she's 4 yrs old) eating it the other day. Why? Is this normal? I now have to make sure it lands on the other side of the fence so other animals can get it and she can't eat it. I am baffled by this as she has been afraid of the cat since the day we brought her home a month ago. She won't go near the cat, her cat box, food etc but she will eat her hair......
