Favorite Yorkie Groomers in Tucson? Other Grooming Questions... Hi all - I'm new to the forum, and new to being a yorkie caretaker. I've wanted one for years, and just after I put in an application for adoption at a rescue organization, one fell into my lap.
Essentially (are you ready for this?) my boyfriend's ex-wife's boyfriend (now her ex-boyfriend) had a yorkie named Jack. The ex-wife's relationship with her boyfriend ended rather stormily, in an incident involving them BOTH being arrested, restraining orders, the whole 9 yards. My boyfriend and I had to go to the home to take his children home with us, and there were two dogs in the house that were going to be left alone. There wasn't even any food in the house for the dogs...
Anyway, so we took Jack with us too. He's been with us ever since (over two weeks now). His owner hasn't asked about him once, even though he's been in contact several times regarding a motorcycle he left in at our place. The latest call was yesterday to say he won't be able to come get the bike until the end of August - again NO mention of JACK!
Jack is happy. I'm happy. It looks like he's with us to stay.
Question is, does anyone have any groomers they like for working with Yorkies in Tucson, AZ?
Jack's coat was kept short, so it's not as much of a mess as it could be - but there is definitely some matting in areas, especially around the face where the hair was longer, and I know mats are uncomfortable for these dogs. I want to get him taken care of as soon as possible. But I don't want to take him to just some random groomer. I want him to be taken care of gently/caringly, and by people with experience working with this breed.
Also, his nails were really overgrown, and I've had them trimmed once already (a little over a week ago), but they are still long. How frequently should they be getting trimmed to get them back to a reasonable length?
Thanks in advance!
