The breeder specifically sold him to me for 800 dollars because he does have a funny gene and she didn't want to sell him to anyone who was going to breed him again, and besides, once she told people, nobody else wanted him. So, I felt bad. He was the last puppy left in his litter.

I'm just glad she was honest with me, the gene isn't that bad, it's just a dormant one that can be activated or amplified in future generations for diabetees, but he's been checked and his blood sugar is good. At least she didn't try to sell him off as a normal puppy at regular price. And I had no problem paying 800 for him, because he is from a good bloodline, he's AKC, she paid for all of his medical exams, and she even gave me dog food.

I'm just upset that these breeders feed off of ignorance, and ignorant people don't even bother to do research before they invest so much money into a dog.

I'm sorry, you've lost me, did I miss something in the thread? What funny gene does your puppy have that is dormant and can be activated or amplified in future generations for diabetes?
